The Directors

Martin Luyt CA(SA), RA

Martin is the managing director, and has 25 years' post-qualification experience. Since qualifying in 1988, he has worked in London for Ernst & Young and Safinvest, and more recently was a director of the former BDO Spencer Steward (Cape Town). He established LPH in March 2002, with its original founding directors Nicholas Hall and John Proudfoot.

Martin's wide-ranging experience allows him to offer clients a diverse package of services, including accounting, business consulting, taxation and related topics, and especially trusts.

He has been involved in a significant number of large business transactions, and has built up a diverse portfolio of local and international clients.

Nicholas Hall CA(SA), RA

Nicholas Hall obtained his BCom degree and Post-graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town in 1992 and 1993 respectively. Nicholas qualified as a chartered accountant after completing his articles at Amery Clark & Associates in 1996. After Amery Clark & Associates merged with BDO in 1999, he joined BDO Spencer Steward (Cape Town) as an audit manager and also co-managed their entrepreneurial services department.

To gain further experience, Nicholas moved to Guernsey where he worked for Ernst & Young as an audit supervisor, obtaining valuable audit experience in the listed property fund, investment fund, insurance and banking industries. Nicholas and his wife returned to Cape Town for the birth of the first of their two daughters. He co-founded LPH Chartered Accountants Inc. in 2002.

Due to his technical knowledge and experience, Nicholas is able to assist clients over a broad spectrum of industries in the fields of accounting, taxation, auditing, consulting and company secretarial services.

Craig Kempen CA(SA), RA

Craig joined LPH as a director in 2007 to offer his expertise in auditing, accounting and taxation after gaining several years of experience with an international, medium-tier firm.

Although having worked with clients across a wide range of industries, Craig's focus is now predominantly on property, hospitality, non-profit organisations and sectional title work.

Konrad Nelson CA(SA), RA

Konrad holds a B.Acc and B.Acc (Hons) degree from the University of Stellenbosch where he also serves as external moderator of the university's final year B.Acc tax examinations.

He was previously with KPMG where he was an audit supervisor in its financial services division. Konrad also completed his articles with KPMG where he was involved with audits of large listed financial services entities with a specific focus on unit trust investments and fund managing.

Konrad joined LPH in 2012 and is responsible for a diverse portfolio of clients. He is a SAICA registered assessor and specifically passionate about the training of trainee accountants. Konrad has developed internal training material on various topics and enjoys presenting training sessions that are both interactive and topical.

Konrad continues to apply his technical knowledge on a daily basis to the benefit of his clients.
