Accounting Opportunities

Accountant

We are looking for suitably experienced Accountants to join our experienced team of professionals. 

Purpose of the job:

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients.

Minimum requirements:

  • Thorough accounting & bookkeeping knowledge, including preparation of books to trial balance and completion of management accounts is essential
    4-years’ experience working in an accounting department within a practice is non-negotiable
  • Pastel processing knowledge
  • Caseware Working Papers experience
  • Working knowledge of Income Tax & VAT
  • Highly PC literate with advanced Excel knowledge
  • BCom Accounting or similar & post article experience would be advantageous, but is not essential

Key duties or responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for clients
  • Preparation of VAT returns for clients and submission on E-Filing
  • Drafting of Annual Financial Statements in Caseware or Excel from trial balance
  • Preparation of annual financial statements after processing all source documents
  • Meeting with clients to discuss and approve the annual accounts
  • Supervising and assisting various bookkeepers/accountants employed by our clients

Skills or competencies:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to pay high attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently is essential
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels;
  • Up to date with accounting standards.

Tax Opportunities

Senior Tax Consultant

Start Date: As soon as possible
Remuneration: Negotiable

We are looking for suitably experienced Senior Tax Consultant to join our experienced team of professionals. 

Purpose of the job:

The successful candidate would be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients (including individuals, corporate entities and trusts). The candidate would be required to liaise directly with clients and is expected to be capable of working independently of senior management should it be required.

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience working within a similar role
  • Solid knowledge of the Income Tax Act, the tax systems and practical experience in dealing with SARS is essential
  • The candidate must be able to communicate directly with clients in a professional and confident manner
  • It is expected of the candidate to teach, share knowledge and offer guidance with more junior colleagues
  • Knowledge of Caseware Time and Taxware would be advantageous
  • Suitable qualifications would be favourable, but they are not essential
  • Candidate must be confident enough in their knowledge of the various Acts to allow them to provide opinions and advice to clients

Key duties or responsibilities:

  • Completion and submission of income tax returns for individuals, corporates and trusts
  • Consulting with clients as regards to their affairs and answering complex client queries
  • Provisional Tax
  • Preparing responses to SARS Queries and SARS Audits
  • Tax Directive Applications
  • Dividends Tax returns
  • New client take-on
  • Deregistration of all tax types with SARS
  • Tax Clearance Certificate Applications in respect of foreign investment
  • Tax Clearance Certificate Applications in respect of good standing and tenders
  • Able to complete reconciliations for the purpose of filing IT14SDs with SARS
